The Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of South Africa (REDISA): key achievements from 1 December 2014 – end of 30 April 2015

  • 70 423 tonnes of waste tyres collected
  • 2102 jobs created
  • 45 Depots are operational nationally in the following areas:

  • 183 SMME transporter operations are collecting tyres as per the REDISA Plan and rollout; 95 Transporters, 6 Processors, 61 Micro-collectors
  • REDISA is currently collecting from 1851 dealers, and as the Plan continues in its five year rollout, more dealers and collection points will be collected from nationwide.
  • On 15 May, 2015, REDISA hosted a successful Recognition Awards ceremony. The purpose of the event was for REDISA to express gratitude to all the supporters and beneficiaries who have grown with the Plan.
  • The entry deadline for the Puku Children’s Literature Foundation Story Competition has been extended to 24 July, 2015.The competition is open to isiXhosa school goers in the Eastern and Western Cape.
  • REDISA is constantly looking to resolve issues that the public might have regarding stockpiled tyres, and encourages all members of the public who are aware of tyre stockpiles to contact REDISA at info@redisa.org.za
